Speakers and Talks

Darko Mesaroš   Senior Developer Advocate at AWS

Darko has ten years of experience doing System Admin work and various other IT related tasks. He considers himself a very proficient Windows and Linux System Administrator/Engineer.He excels in DevOps and automation, and he has the ability to be very flexible with the technologies he uses.

9:05–9:30 Do awesome things with Infrastructure as code

The Cloud is a fun place to create new things. Every piece of infrastructure you ever wanted is just a click away, well a few clicks away. And clicking is no fun if you have to do it over and over again.

What if you could create all of your infrastructure just by describing what you want, just like making cooking instructions? What if you could make your infrastructure changes predictable? Well then, let's talk!

In this session we will see what awesome things you can do with AWS CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform, and others. How you can use Infrastructure as Code to make your infrastructure management fast, fun, and secure!

Gunnar Grosch   Senior Developer Advocate at AWS

Gunnar is a Senior Developer Advocate at Amazon Web Services (AWS) based in Sweden. He has 20 years of experience in the IT industry and has previously worked as both a frontend and backend developer, as an operations engineer within cloud infrastructure, and as a technical trainer, in addition to several different management roles.

9:30-9:55 Improve Resilience and Performance with Controlled Chaos Engineering

AWS Fault Injection Simulator is a fully managed chaos engineering service that helps you improve application resilience by making it easy and safe to perform controlled chaos engineering experiments on AWS. In this session, see an overview of chaos engineering and AWS Fault Injection Simulator, and then see a demo of how to use AWS Fault Injection Simulator to make applications more resilient to failure.

Csaba Szegedi   Senior Cloud Architect at Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions, AWS Authorized Instructor

Csaba Szegedi is working as an AWS Solution Architect at Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions Hungary. He started using cloud technologies in 2014. Since then he had worked on many projects and helped these to be stable in a cloud environment.

He is also an AWS Authorized Instructor, delivering around Europe Architecting and Developing on AWS classes. In the #ViragoVarriors team he is driving the AWS Well Architected Review practice and community.

His favorite hobby is building IoT devices and connecting them to the computer or to the cloud.

10:00-10:25 Manage private AWS EKS clusters with your local
Kubernetes IDE

In his presentation he will talk about solutions which involve AWS Elastic Kubernetes Services. The focus point will be on how to access EKS clusters which were created with only-private access settings.

The presented solutions will provide secure examples for both company internal and external engineers.

Karol Havrillay   Lead Architect at
Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions Slovakia

Karol Havrillay is a Lead Architect for Public Cloud at Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions in Kosice, Slovakia specializing in topics around security and compliance on AWS.

During his 14+ years in the field he had gained experience in both technical and non-technical roles across multiple industries until he became passionate about cloud computing and many of its benefits.

He is especially amazed by the huge variety of ready-to-use services in AWS enabling companies to build new products and bring value to the customers at an unprecedented pace and thus shortening their time-to-value and time-to-market.

10:25-10:50 Secure authentication of CI/CD pipelines towards AWS: an Example with GitLab

In the current DevOps era we all strive for smooth and convenient deployments from our code repositories to environments running on AWS. The typical solution is a proper CI/CD pipeline which however needs to be authenticated against AWS. Usually our pipeline has multiple branches and stages pointing to different AWS accounts representing those SDLC stages. Creating IAM users with static credentials for this purpose will certainly cause the security officers a headache. Long-term credentials can be dangerous and should be avoided whenever possible. Join me in this talk where I will show you how we reduced security risks by (almost) completely getting rid of long-term credentials, how this made our developers' lives easier and how we keep track of mappings between repositories, stages and target AWS environments.

Árpád Jorzsits   Head of Public Cloud at Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions

Árpád is the Head of Public Cloud at Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions. He is the founder and organizer of the Hungarian communities of Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services.

11:00-11:45 Panel discussion
