Solutions & Projects (S&P)
Solutions & Projects (S&P) supports TSI in obtaining new contracts, and in the fulfillment of projects from a time, financial, and quality aspect. S&P is tasked with solution design support for tenders, designing infrastructure architecture and managing a wide range of global and local projects. These activities have been present in Hungary since 2009, and the current setup of S&P Hungary was established in line with TSI plans in 2013, by merging BOQ and Service Management teams. The department that at the time launched with about 60 FTEs has recently celebrated its 100th member, and plans further expansion in Budapest, Debrecen and Pécs. S&P main nearshore customers are Shell, Kone, and Georg Fischer, and we also manage the systems of the UK and Dutch LBUs and the ITSH Project Portfolio.
Sites: Budapest, Debrecen, Pécs, Szeged
All of our architects, presales staff, project coordinators and project managers speak English at a high level, with several speaking other languages as well. According to our plans, in 2014 the ITSH Solutions & Projects department will be the largest European S&P team outside of Germany. Not only are senior project managers given career opportunity, we also welcome new employees with little experience in project management from the level of entry-level project assistant.
Strategic Project Management
SPM Nearshore
The part of the Strategic Project Management department servicing international markets is SPM Nearshore which, due to its dynamic growth, has recently been divided into two teams. The colleagues managing certain projects of strategic importance of one of TSI’s most important customers Shell Global Account comprise SPM Shell, while the international project managers of KONE, E.ON, DPDHL or Philips Global Account fill the ranks of SPM Large Accounts.
Our colleagues provide the latest, most professional program, project and PMO services to TSI’s key accounts. Of these, it is important to note the Program/ Project/ T&T Manager, and PMO (PMO Lead, PMO Support, Risk-, Quality-, Resource- and Change Management) functions, as well as the technical management of projects.
The team’s project managers have succeeded with large international projects such as Shell SAP HANA, KONE Odin or Georg Fischer OPF, which proved to customers that cooperation is the key to effective implementation of projects with a high level of expertise at a competitive price.
SPM Nearshore can boast of the best of the industry among its ranks: highly qualified, internationally recognized project managers with several decades of experience in a project environment. In addition, great emphasis is also placed on the development of emerging, young talent. By establishing a unique mentoring and knowledge sharing system, the PM Academy Project running under the auspices of SPM Nearshore promotes the advancement of colleagues on various levels. In addition, a wide range of professional and other hard and soft skill trainings have been mapped which, fit to individual development plans, facilitate the efficient development of employee expertise – the key to the outstanding level of quality service that has come to be expected of the team.
SPM Center of Excellence
One of the main elements of SPM CoE’s activity is providing experienced project managers to lead local (ITSH) and international projects, and transitions. In addition, we provide general project management support (PMO) for both local and large international projects. Important tasks include constant learning, and developing project and transition methodology, during which the methodological expectations specified by T-Systems International are taken into account. In addition, developing in-house project management maturity is a priority, for which a variety of internal trainings and professional consultations are provided. International PM cooperation and experience sharing are also a part of this activity.
As for any company, for ITSH as well it is essential to make optimal use of available resources. This was a criterion – as part of the project portfolio management process – in introducing project selection, prioritization, monitoring, controlling, and follow-up audits. Our tasks include both operation and continuous development of the system.
Thanks to the broad SPM CoE portfolio, our customers are relieved of the burden of project management tasks. We manage the projects entrusted to us with full responsibility and professionalism, regardless of whether the tasks at hand involve project assistance or complex, cross-border projects.
The competencies required of our colleagues (and for effective project management) include the right individual personality traits and attributes (e.g. customer focus, results orientation, efficient work performance, loyalty, responsibility, independence, excellence, analytical thinking, balance, stress tolerance, and acceptance of other cultures). Practical experience (in the case of project managers) and competitive skills(professional and project management skills) are crucial, with project management certifications (PMI, IPMA, Prince II) constituting an added advantage.
Thanks to the international background and variety of project types, everyone can find the right, challenging task or project, from major international IT outsourcing related transitions to organizational development-, application management-, or new office construction projects. In order to more efficiently support our colleagues’ professional development, we run the PM Academy program together with SPM Nearshore, through which less experienced, new employees receive personalized preparation.
Solutions
Enterprise Architect és Solution Architecture
As part of smaller projects, our architect teams carry out professional design and engineering tasks within the aegis of T-Systems International. Our IT architects have several years experience within the IT industry, in a range of areas including technical management, consultancy, development, automation or other engineering activities.
The core strength of our architect colleagues is their ability to simultaneously coordinate and implement design tasks, professional consulting and implementation. In order for an architect to work effectively and efficiently, deep and broad technical knowledge, as well as serious soft skill competencies are required. Accordingly, good communication skills, customer focus, empathy, a high degree of autonomy and proper time management are essential.
The range of opportunities for professional development is given, with the option for advancement in a range of directions. For example, it is possible to move in the direction of customer-focused, high-level design or delve deeper into a specific professional area, thus obtaining a higher level of expertise.
Solution Design
Our Solution Design team engages in complex pre-sales activity, especially in the international market. Our colleagues assess the relevant customer needs based on the tender specifications, for which they prepare high-level technical solutions using the company portfolio. This includes the development and management of technical details, as well as close cooperation with architect teams. This is followed by the preparation of an appropriate cost calculation based on risk management factors and the exact wording of the offer, which our deal solution managers then present to T-Systems management and the customer in question. Other activities include conducting due diligence processes, as well as preparing the final contract and the transition process. The development of the T-Systems portfolio support tool (DSC tool) took place within the Solution Design department.
The services provided by Solution Design have many advantages for customers. As nearshore partners, our highly qualified colleagues with extensive knowledge represent a cost-effective opportunity in international deals. Their primary customers are T-Systems International GmbH (TSI) and Local Business Units (LBU) where they generate efficient solutions, taking consideration of market prices and satisfying customer needs, from T-Systems’ available portfolio. Furthermore, to this end Solution Design has a direct say in the establishment of the TSI support structure.
Extensive ICT and business knowledge is important to perform Solution Design work and to generate the right calculations. A high level of technical skills is necessary to completely understand a global scope. Strong foreign language skills, especially in English and German, are indispensable for the efficient performance of international work. Project management skills, as well as various ITIL certifications (such as. ITIL Foundation, Lifecycle, Capability, ITIL Expert, ITIL Master) represent a further advantage. Soft skill competencies are also important in implementing high-level management communication, and in resolving the organizational and flexibility problems arising during teamwork.
In addition, there are opportunities for professional development within the department at – junior manager – experienced manager – senior manager – and expert manager levels, or even in internationally in OPM, BID Manager, or Lead DSM positions. To ensure continuous development, there is also the opportunity for employees to earn numerous certificates by taking part in relevant trainings.
